IMP is a research group officially recognized and funded by the regional government (Generalitat de Catalunya) for the period 2014-2016 (2014-SGR-1534). It is a multidisciplinary group, whose members are researchers at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya - Barcelona Tech (UPC), Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) and Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC). In the case of UPC, the group includes researchers from four different departments: Service and Information Systems Engineering (ESSI), Statistics and Operations Research (EIO), Computer Architecture (AC) and Automatic Control (ESAII).
A great part of the research activity is carried out in joint collaboration with inLab, the innovation and research lab which is part of the Barcelona School of Informations (FIB). It has more than three decades of experience in the development of applications and services based on IT technologies. The goal of this collaboration is to promote research and innovation in the fields of modelization and information processing and contribute to their dissemination, and provide scientific and technological services to companies.
The goal of IMP is to establish itself as one of the leading research groups in the areas of modeling and information processing. For us, being a leading research group means achieving excellence at the academic level by being widely recognized internationally and creating relevant work whose results can be applied to society and the industrial sector.
With our ability to comprehensively manage information we wish to tackle several different but closely-related areas.
IMP collaborates actively with internationally renowned research groups. Most of these collaborations have already provided results through the publication of articles, long-period research stays, joint teaching of master and doctorate programs, or being part of the examination panel of doctoral theses.
