Lidia Montero Mercadé has been a tenured professor in the Department of Statistics and Operations Research at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (Barcelona TECH-UPC) since 1998. She earned her PhD from the same university in 1993. Her expertise focuses on the application of statistics to transportation planning, demand models, traffic management, and other transport-related issues.
In 1985, she began collaborating with LIOS (Laboratory of Operations Research and Simulation), which merged in 1997 with other working groups at UPC to create PROMALS (Mathematical Programming, Logistics, and Simulation). Since 2014, she has been a member of CIT UPC, working within the health group MPI (Modeling and Processing of Information), coordinated by Ernest Teniente and certified by the Catalan government for the 2014-2016 period (AGAUR).
The research group specializing in transportation and mobility in the Department of Statistics and Operations Research at UPC has been involved in the development of traffic models, particularly in traffic simulation, through its participation in national and European R&D projects.
