1. Acceptance of the Terms of Use
Users are obliged to read the terms of use and privacy policy of this web page.
Using the website of the Information Modeling and Processing Research Group (IMP from now on) implies that you have read and accepted the terms and conditions as they stand when you access it. These terms and conditions are described below. Furthermore, using certain services that are made available on this official site may be subject to conditions, disclaimers or special instructions that users must read and accept fully.
Free access
Using the official IMP website is free of charge. Nonetheless, some of the services that are made available on this website may be subject, currently or in the future, to a fee that will be duly published.
User registration
For general access and use of this website registration is not necessary. However, in exceptional cases access to certain services may require users to register in the IMP’s databases. In these cases, personal details provided to the IMP as a result of using its website are processed by the IMP under the conditions and terms specified in Clause 6 of the present terms of use and privacy policy.
User credentials are to be used exclusively by their owner, who is responsible for storing them, protecting their confidentiality and using them appropriately.
The IMP shall not be responsible for any damages resulting from the use of these credentials by third parties, whether the owner of these credentials is aware of this unauthorized use or not.
Modifications by users
In general, users are not allowed to modify any of the web pages that make up the IMP website or any of their content.
The IMP reserves the right to modify the pages and content of its website, as well as the terms of use, which will be published on the website.
Restrictions on access and use
Using the official IMP website is subject to the general conditions outlined herein and any applicable legal provisions.
The IMP reserves the right to deny access to this website to users who do not observe the present terms of use and privacy policy.
2. Intellectual and industrial property rights
Industrial Property
The name IMP, as well as other distinctive signs (graphic or denominative) that appear on this website, are the exclusive property of IMP and are duly registered. Their ownership grants IMP, in accordance with Article 34 of Law 17/2001 of December 17 on trademarks, as well as other applicable national legislation, the exclusive right to use these distinctive signs in economic transactions. Therefore, their use by unauthorized third parties is prohibited.
The eventual use on this site of distinctive signs owned by parties other than those mentioned in the previous paragraph must be carried out with the authorization of the legitimate owners, always respecting their exclusive rights.
Domain names
In the same sense as the previous section, the domain name ‘imp.fib.upc.edu’ and all others that provide direct access to this official site are the exclusive property of IMP. Improper use of these domains in economic transactions constitutes a violation of the rights conferred by their registration and will be prosecuted through the means provided by law.
Intellectual Property
Excluded from this protection are files or computer programs that are not owned by IMP and are freely accessible (freeware), which users can download from various pages of this site to enable access. These are, in any case, applications that are in the public domain by the express will of their authors.
The user is expressly authorized by IMP to view, print, copy, or store, in any form, on their hard drive or other physical media, protected intellectual creations and any other content or asset, whether covered by an exclusive right or not, provided this is done for the user’s personal and private purposes, without commercial or distribution purposes, and without modifying, altering, or decompiling the mentioned rights and content. This personal use permission is granted as long as copyright and industrial property warnings outlined in these terms are respected and does not imply the granting of any license to the user.
Likewise, museums, libraries, sound libraries, film libraries, newspaper archives, or archives that are publicly owned or integrated into cultural or scientific institutions are exempt from requesting authorization from IMP to reproduce the material contained in this official site, or any existing intellectual creation, or any asset whether covered by an exclusive right or not, when the reproduction is carried out without profit and exclusively for research purposes.
Any other use requires the express written authorization of IMP.
Reservation of rights
The website user agrees to respect the aforementioned rights and refrain from any actions that could harm them.
In line with the aforementioned purposes, the unauthorized use of the industrial and intellectual property rights owned by IMP and related to or contained in this website, as well as any violation of the peaceful possession and ownership of those rights, will be prosecuted using the means provided by both Spanish and international legislation.
In this regard, IMP expressly reserves the right to pursue both civil and criminal actions to protect its legitimate intellectual and industrial property rights.
3. Links
On the IMP website, users may find various links that lead to web pages independent of this site. These links are provided solely to facilitate access to other sources of information on the internet related to culture and education. Their inclusion on this website reflects respect for the intellectual property rights of their respective authors. IMP disclaims any responsibility for the content or services offered by these external sites and is not liable for their integrity or accuracy.
IMP requires prior authorization and compliance with the following rules for any other websites or pages wishing to link to its content:
a) The link must include the identification of the source.
b) The effect of clicking the ‘link button’ must be a connection to the IMP website or any of its web pages, and not an incorporation of its contents into the referring page.
c) The intellectual and industrial property rights of IMP must be respected, meaning that distinctive symbols, logos, search engines, etc., belonging to IMP cannot be incorporated into the referring page.
d) Reciprocally, IMP must be able to establish links from its website to the referring page, if deemed appropriate.
For non-compliance with these conditions or for other reasons, if deemed appropriate, IMP may revoke the authorization without the right to any indemnity or compensation.

5. Privacy
Cookies
The IMP website uses first-party and third-party cookies to improve the browsing experience and for statistical purposes.
The law states that we can store cookies on users’ devices if they are strictly necessary for the operation of this site. For all other types of cookies, consent must be obtained.
At any time, the user can change or withdraw their consent regarding the use of cookies by accessing the privacy management link located at the bottom of each page.
Proxy cache server
IMP informs users that it may have implemented a service called proxy cache server, which is intended for the intermediate storage of web pages and FTP files to improve network performance and verify that they do not pose a threat to the corporate network. The log files of this service, which contain only the URLs requested by each IP, are deleted at regular intervals in accordance with the Information Security Regulations, and IMP does not share this data unless strictly required to comply with relevant judicial requests or, if applicable, requests from a legally authorized authority.
Monitoring and Activity Logs
IMP informs users that it has monitoring systems that record the user’s IP address and their activity on the IMP network. The purpose of this monitoring is to manage service provision, generate statistics, and ensure the security of information systems. In risk situations, it generates alerts, identifies the affected devices, and allows the network to be isolated until the systems’ operations return to normal.
Social Media
When a user chooses to follow IMP on social networks such as Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc., or when they share our content on these platforms, they agree not only to our privacy policies in this area but also to those of the social network service provider, including those related to the processing of personal data under the laws and jurisdiction of the provider’s country.

If applicable, personal data provided by users may be disclosed to a third party solely for the fulfillment of the aforementioned purposes, in accordance with Article 6 of the GDPR. Therefore, when necessary, the consent of the data subjects must be obtained.
By providing personal data to IMP, users fully and unreservedly consent to IMP processing their personal data in a manner that is adequate, relevant, and limited to fulfilling the purpose of properly attending to them and in connection with the performance of IMP’s functions, in accordance with the processing principles outlined in Chapter II of the GDPR (Article 5 of the GDPR).
