Dr. Jaime Delgado is the full professor in the Department of Computer Architecture at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC). He received his PhD in Telecommunications Engineering in 1987. He was the director and founder of the Distributed Multimedia Applications Group (DMAG) until its integration into the IMP research group in 2018. Likewise, he has been the principal investigator in several national and European research projects in areas such as privacy and security, health and genomic information, metadata, digital rights management, and distributed applications.
Since 1989, he has served as co-editor of international standards and co-chair of groups in organizations like ISO/IEC, EWOS, ETSI, and ITU-T, among others. He is currently co-chair of the MPEG group on genomic information representation. Additionally, since 2017, he has chaired the working group on security for the European Federation for Medical Informatics (EFMI).
Dr. Delgado has also served as an evaluator and reviewer for the European Commission in various research programs, as well as an advisor to several Spanish ministries and regional governments. He is the author of several hundred publications and books and has been a member or chair of numerous international conference program committees.
