The IMP research group is an officially recognized research group, funded by the Government of Catalonia since 2014 and renewed for the period from 2017 to 2019 (2017-SGR-1749). It is a multidisciplinary group, made up of researchers from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC), the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) and the Open University of Catalonia (UOC), and the collaboration of members of the Innovation and Research Laboratory from the Faculty of Computing of Barcelona (inLab).
Regarding the UPC, the group includes researchers from four different departments: Engineering Services and Information Systems (ESSI), Statistics and Operations Research (EIO), Computer Architecture (AC) and Automation Systems Engineering and Industrial Computing (ESAII) ). Regarding the UAB, the group includes researchers from the Logistics and Aeronautics Unit of the Department of Telecommunications and Systems Engineering. The members of the group linked to the UOC are part of the IT, Multimedia and Telecommunications Studies. A large part of the group's activity is carried out in close collaboration with inLab, the Innovation and Research Laboratory of the Barcelona School of Informatics with more than three decades of experience in the development of applications and services based on computer technologies.

Referent to the excellence linked to the academic field, with a wide international recognition; as the relevance of the work done, with the application to society and the industrial fabric of the results and knowledge obtained as a result of the research carried out.
